Craziest thing you’ve ever done

I like to think I’m a pretty tame person when it comes to crazy things. One thing that kind of sticks out is the time I rode a double diamond trail down Whistler mountain, and tackled the hardest jump I’ve encountered so far! :)

And I’ve pierced my own ears three times.. does that count?

A story about me and my best friend

I honestly don’t know if I have one best friend. I have lots of friends who kind of come in and out of my life at times. Hahaha I’ve got one who’s a real idiot with me, and together everything we do would probably make you all facepalm.


For instance, we were driving up to a skating competition with my mom one time and stopped at Shoppers for snacks and things. We both LOVE nutella so we grabbed a jar of that, and then tried to find some crackers or something we wanted to eat with it. We walked up and down the cracker aisle forever, trying to find a somewhat decently healthy/not cheese flavoured cracker to have for like 20 minutes. One of the first boxes she picks up and reads ‘8 Grain Crackers… how bout these?’ I look at it and go ‘But there’s only eight of them…’ she goes ‘Oh right, that sucks, we need more than eight’ and puts the box back down. After my mom’s done getting everything she needs we’re still looking at crackers and she suggests the box of 8 Grain Crackers. We’re both like, ‘but there’s only eight of them!’ My mom just looked up at us and went, ‘You dough heads, that means they’re made with 8 different grains!’ … we got the 8 grain crackers.

I know this is late, but I say buy Louis Garneau SK20. all speed skates can take a beating and these come w/ blades. good deal!

That’s what I’m kinda thinking… I’m holding off on buying them now until next week so I have a chance to actually get into the store and try a bunch on. I don’t think it’s the same with speed skaters, but I’m incredibly picky about figure skates and I’m assuming the same will happen with speed skates.

Haha bed does win. I wanna go to sleep, but I don’t know if leaving all of it for the morning is such a great idea. We’ll find out!

Tumblr, I need your help.

Executive decisions must be made.

I’ve got a drawing project due tomorrow night that has to be finished by 430 pm. 5 panels, 5 different scarves, all done in oil pastel. I’ve got the first one 90% finished.

I can stay up all night tonight and sleep tomorrow, hopefully get to skating for a bit and be finished but dead tired.

I can go to sleep now and wake up super early and finish three before skating and hopefully two after, with a good night’s rest and then get to the gym after class. However, if I don’t work fast enough, I won’t make it in time.

I kind of want to go to bed now, just to see how fast I can pull some good drawings out, cause when I get into it, good things happen.

What do you think is a better idea?

Monday Goals - November Recap

I haven’t been posting about my weekly goals, but I have been keeping track each week.

Monthly goal recap:

Get calipers and ankle weights

  • I just ordered a set of calipers this week
  • I decided to forego ankle weights; they were mostly just an experiment and not as essential, and I need to save money for a pair of skates.

 Ace all my final projects

  • So far, I’ve finished 2/4. On track to do well. 

Start recording race distance times

  • My first race is on Dec 3rd!

Start the application process for exchange

  • I have my initial form filled out and am handing reference forms to a couple profs this week

Squat at least 200lbs

  • This was a very very lofty goal. I’ve had some setbacks, and I’m kind of deloading a bit this week so I don’t hurt my leg more before my race.
  • I got up to 150lbs

Keep not eating ice cream!

  • Still going strong. 

Take more photos

  • I haven’t taken many, but I did take more than last month. Progress.
  • I’m bringing my camera to shoot at the race!

Make an eating plan and stick to it

  • I made a plan in the first week of November, with a little more wiggle room for when I get stuck at school and have to buy something.
  • Ive been struggling with not eating gluten, and a couple weeks ago had a few really bad days. Last week I have 3 meals with gluten, and this past week I’ve had two. It’s not perfect but it’s a bit of an improvement.
  • I need to keep working on this. Most things I can fit into my macros, but they also make me sick. Although I’m technically allowed to have it, I hate going through that, and I know its not good for me.

I’m working on this more going into 2012. I ordered a Moleskine weekly planner so I can write out a hard copy of my food and training schedule in the new year, and I’m thinking of revamping parts of my training going into December as well.

i don't think it's fair to use "hate" towards parts of your body. everyone has insecurities. you should address them as projects or points for improvement. because you have a nice body that reflects a lot of hard work, and it's sad to see you scolding that rather than enjoying your success.

I don’t think it’s a great thing to think about things either, but that’s what comes to mind for me. I look down and see great things happening, and then I look at these two places and all I can think is that I legitimately hate how they still look. I’m seeing results in every other part, and stagnating in just two little places, which frustrates me to no end.

I know it’s bad, but I’m working on it. And like I said, I’m really happy with the way I look in general, and with all of the other places where I have definitely seen improvement.
